


What is an I.U.C.D.?
A contraceptive coil, sometimes referred to as Intrauterine Contraceptive Device (I.U.C.D.), is a small device put into your uterus by a doctor to prevent pregnancy.
Contraceptive coils come in two types - hormone-containing coils like Mirena and non-hormone-containing coils like Ballerina and Copper T.

What is a Mirena?
Mirena is a hormone-containing Intra-Uterine System (I.U.S.) used for birth control and H.R.T. It is a small T-shaped device that contains the Progesterone hormone. In addition to serving as a preventative measure against pregnancy, it will also serve as a component of hormone replacement therapy.

What is an IUB Ballerine?
The I.U.B. Ballerine is a hormone-free copper intrauterine device preventing pregnancy and is effective for up to 5 years. It is not known to affect libido or bone metabolism, has no influence on ovulation, and is not known to cause weight gain.
The I.U.B. Ballerine is also suitable for young women who have not been pregnant yet. Fertility is restored immediately upon removal.

How does it work?
I.U.B. Ballerine releases a small amount of copper to provide continuous birth control for up to 5 years.
